Facebook Causes Divorce!

Lately, couples have been complaining about their significant other and their lack of Facebook involvement. They either do not put up enough statuses confessing their love for their wife/husband, or do not decide to change their relationship status to “married.” The greatest complaint comes from inappropriate messages their spouse is sending to a member of the opposite sex.

According to a survey by a UK law firm Divorce-Online found that more than 33% of of divorces last year alone were due to problems that came from Facebook. The amount was originally 20% in 2009.

Divorce-Online spokesman Mark Keenan said ” If someone wants to have an affair or flirt with the opposite sex, Facebook is the easiest place to do it.”

The evidence behind these divorces include status updates, suspicious restaurant check-ins, and inappropriate photos. Keenan also said ” People need to be careful what they write on their walls, as the courts are seeing these posts used in financial disputes and children cases as evidence.”

Affairs could be started outside the world of Facebook but when it starts to leak into the online world, their spouses are able to instantly find out about the affair. The study also found that couples who have split up used Facebook to vent and write nasty comments about their exes.

Just a word to the wise: If you’re gonna cheat, make sure to not broadcast it over Facebook!
